BRAZIL - Impress Decor Brasil, a company specialized in surfaces for furniture and coatings, received the Aterro Zero certification from KMW ECO, a partner company that advocates sustainability in practice and is responsible for the management of the most varied waste.

Daniele Gimenes, responsible for the Safety and Environment sector at Impress Decor, said that the implementation of the program began in 2020 and that the process took three years to obtain this recognition.

"We are looking for new alternatives, environmental tests, licenses and negotiations. Only then, after achieving success in all these stages, we were able to guarantee 100% of waste disposal for cleaner alternatives" Gimenes explains. The program aims to eliminate the disposal of waste in industrial landfills, orienting them towards sustainable alternatives.

Gimenes emphasized the importance of the participation of all Impress Decor employees in this achievement, noting that the certification was an initiative of the Environment team.

To get an idea of this process, in 2022 the company generated an average of 3,000 tons/year in solid waste in the productive and administrative areas. In the same period, less than 2% of this waste went to the industrial landfill, as the company was already working towards Aterro Zero. By 2023, 100% of this waste is already authorized for cleaner alternatives. With this, Impress Decor shows its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
