MEXICO - With an investment of more than EUR 30 million, Swedish furniture and home furnishings manufacturer Ikea launched its first store in the state of Puebla on August 11.
At around 11 a.m., Ikea Puebla welcomed its first visitors. The store presented more than 3,500 home décor items to the numerous customers who had lined up to be part of the grand opening event.
The new branch is located within the Vía San Ángel Shopping Center and covers an area of eleven thousand square meters (m2).
Sustainability is indispensable for the Swedish company, which is why the new store in Puebla has several mechanisms to reduce the impact of its operations and care for the environment.
Ikea Puebla is Ikea's second store in Mexico, adding on to Ikea Ocenia which is part of the Encuentro Oceania shopping center, east of Mexico City.
Ikea was founded in 1943 in Sweden, named after the initials of the founder Ingvar Kamprad, Elmtaryd, the farm where he grew up, and Agunnaryd, the nearby town. Currently, it has more than 422 stores in the world and presence in more than 50 countries.
