ARGENTINA - Ikea, which opened its first store in South America a year ago in Santiago, registered its trademark in Argentina on August 2, according to the Argentine Trademark Bulletin.

There, the trademark was registered for different items, such as furniture, mirrors, frames, cleaning materials, porcelain objects, among others.

Although the registration of the trademark does not imply the opening of stores in the territory by the company -dedicated to the manufacture and retail of furniture and home accessories-, it is a necessary step for this to happen.

Although it is not a direct announcement of the opening of stores in Argentina, this move has generated expectations in the region due to Ikea's recent establishment in Chile and its upcoming openings in Colombia and Peru.

So far, Ikea has not issued any official announcement confirming its arrival in Argentina, while Falabella has not reported any expansion of the franchise to the Argentine market.

It is worth remembering that Ikea sealed an alliance with the Chilean group Falabella for the opening of 9 stores in the countries mentioned at the beginning. To date, Chile already has two stores, while Colombia will see its first store opening in the second half of 2023.
