Peruvian Imports of Wooden Furniture Decrease 16.3% in 2023

PERU - In 2023, the value of Peruvian imports of wooden furniture totaled USD 40.67 million, witnessing a double-digit decrease of 16.3% compared to the previous year (2022: USD 48.60 million).

1067PERUBrazil, as customary, maintained its position as the primary supplier to the Peruvian market in 2023, contributing USD 24.94 million, which accounted for 63.1% of the total wooden furniture imports. This, despite a 19.7% decline from the figures recorded in 2022. Following Brazil, China supplied USD 6.49 million worth of wooden furniture, marking a 20.5% decrease from the 2022 figure of USD 8.16 million.

Among the leading Peruvian importers of wooden furniture during this period, Homecenters Peruanos (Promart stores) stood out with imports totaling USD 8.54 million, while Sodimac/Maestro (Ace Perú), the home improvement stores of the Falabella group, imported goods worth USD 7.83 million. These figures represented substantial drops of 29.4% and 43.6%, respectively, when compared to 2022.

The combined imports of the two major home improvement chains in the country (Promart and Sodimac/Maestro) constituted 40.3% of the total wooden furniture imports to Peru in 2023, marking a decrease from the 53.5% share they held in 2022.
