Ikea Expands Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations

NETHERLANDS - Ingka Group, the largest Ikea retailer worldwide, is expanding its EV charging networks, installing 1,000 new charging points in its stores in Germany by 2028 and 1,000 more in its stores in in Norway, Denmark, and Sweden by 2024.

1079IKEAThis investment aims to address challenges in the transport industry, such as limited public charging infrastructure and grid capacity. Ingka Group has already installed over 4,500 EV charging points worldwide and is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from customer and co-worker travel and home deliveries by 50% by 2030.

Despite challenges like limited freight EV range and insufficient public charging infrastructure, Ingka Group is working to overcome these barriers through investments, innovation, and collaboration.

Karen Pflug, Chief Sustainability Officer at Ingka Group, stresses the importance of transitioning to EVs to meet climate commitments and create sustainable communities.
